I work as a software engineer but have had a love for music all my life. I began studying classical piano as a child and continued through high school. I taught myself to play guitar and bass. I have played in several church groups and formed an original Christian 3 piece rock groups called AngleStone in 2008. I am interested in music production and recording, writing and playing.

Nikon D40 18-55 + 55-200 lens
I bought this Nikon D40 with the stock lens + a 55-200 zoom. This camera was an upgrade from a Canon G2 and it is very nice. It is hard to take a bad picture with this camera. The popup flash works great. I read a lot of reviews before choosing the D40. I was down to Cannon and Nikon and chose Cannon because I liked the idea that they stopped trying to over engineer by adding megapixel counts well beyond what anyone needs and concentrated instead on quality of other components that matter. 6 Megapixels is plenty. How many times do you need to print something = 20x30. In fully automatic mode, you really don't have to do anything to get great results. The autofocus is quick and accurate even in lower light conditions where my old G2 would struggle. In manual mode you have the ability to get creative and the camera easily provides all the information you need to get great exposures. The battery life is excellent. I don't have any complaints thus far.
