Covers the early history of Hollywood during the thirty years of the silent film era.
Kevin Brownlow is one of the world's authorities on silent movies. This book was published in conjunction with the 1980 Hollywood: the Pioneers documentary television series and serves as a nice supplement, using beautiful still photographs from the John Kobal collection.

The party is still going strong with this fun 60's girl group!
This generous 30 track compilation includes essentially all of the 1960's recordings by the Pixies Three, including tracks from their singles and sole Mercury (teenage party themed) LP from 1964. Several unreleased demo tracks (with varying instrumental backings) are also included and definitely add some "spice" to the collection. Informative liner notes describe just about everything you might want to know about the group from its inception up to the time of the issue of this CD, including personnel changes (there were a total of four members, three at any given time). While the Pixies Three were perhaps a minor part of the girl group scene of he early 60's, their vocals were always strong, and completists of the genre will definitely want to pick up this essential collection.

Informative silent film treatise
A year by year review of the top silent movies, concentrating in the final decade before sound films took over. Incredible, as this was written decades later by one who actually saw these movies at the time.
