Subversively kewl

includes classic 'beatnik' rap turning history of Columbus' voyage to America into groovy hep lingo -- also excerpted on Rhino records CD music anthology on the beats(only reason I bought it!)

James Carter is a MONSTER on sax(!); this group's version of "Take the A Train" can tear your head off and worth the price alone! Play it in the car and see if you can avoid zooming off into space! Carter has the neo-bop young lions schtick down pat, and swings like a motha, but can also shriek and shred as well as Pharoah or other "new thing" free jazz freaks.....
