Good portable reference book.
Packed full of information from different types of yarns, casting on stitches, how to use a pattern as well as how to design your own garment. It highlights examples of various stitches, with advice as to how they can be used. I like that the book is small enough to carry.

Something for everyone. Good value for money. The book has lots of information for a range of skill levels.
The Stitch Directory, covers a knitting, crochet, needlepoint and embroidery. It is full of information for just the knitting alone. Includes how to cast on stitches, checking tension etc. For visual learners and novices, it's a great start with lots of techniques. Suitable for beginners to the more experienced. It's a good source book, something that an engaged knitter etc will come back to time and again. I haven't used the book as such. I have just quickly looked through it and first impressions are good.
