A totally engaging read about yet another unsung hero of WWII
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I admit I'm a sucker for anything WWII related and I've already read quite a few books about the early days when the Philippines fell to the Japanese onslaught. That said this tale kept my attention throughout its not insignificant length of 483 pages. The hero of this book was a corpsman and his training and growth in his craft is covered and brings home the high degree of dedication Charles Beckner had for a young lad. The author, his son-in-law, was also a doctor so that perspective is never glossed over. If you're squeamish, you can skip the bloodier sections :) Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this book.
Osprey Aircraft of the Aces: Soviet Aces of World War 2 by Hugh Morgan

Good review of underappreciated aspect of WWII
Another excellent example of the Osprey Aircraft of the Aces series. The Soviets used a large array of different aircraft in their battles against the Nazis in World War II. Despite many of them being outdated and/or outclassed by the German Luftwaffe, there were a surprising number of aces in the Russian air ranks. This book gives a nice accounting of the Russian efforts and is a necessity for any hobbyist interested WWII aircraft and air battles. This led, I think, to at least one additional entry on Soviet aces in the series as more information became unearthed & unclassified in later years.

The Men's RH-S run VERY small - too tight to play in
These are well made with no issues with materials, stitching or workmanship. My only problem is they are VERY tight. I always buy mens regular small and have had one on rare occasions that is snug and requires some wearing to get 100% comfortable. I've been wearing this glove for almost a week - around the house and even mowing the lawn in killer heat and the glove is still quite tight - too tight for me to play golf in. I suppose if it were a cheaper glove it might have stretched more quickly. Anyway, that is my only qualm with these otherwise excellent gloves by a high quality name. Because of the big name, it had a not-so-small price.
