Fantastic whole house humidifier!
This humidifier does the job! I was really surprised after finally running it for the first time just how much of a difference it really makes. Not only does higher humidity in the winter help, of course, but this unit is quite capable at maintaining the levels that are needed. And it's a 600 (not 600M, which stands for Manual) so it's fully automatic.
Depending on your current furnace configuration, the install will range from straightforward to feeling like you are doing two projects instead of one.
I have included pictures showing how mine was setup. Key points: 1) Location of the main unit is against a plenum, and I choose the supply plenum because someone already cut a vent there. 2) Ducting will be needed that will go from the main unit to the other plenum (in my case the return). 3) This needs access to hot water. My furnace was five feet from the water heater so this was perfect for me. 4) Humidistat mounts on plenum at least 6 inches higher than incoming humidifier air. 5) Temperature sensor must be wired to outside (I put mine in the AC unit because it won't get snowed on and will be out of the way.
Instructions are very clear. The controls require the fan to be running in order for humidification to occur. I have a setup where I always run my fan (I have an electronic air filter). But, for those who only have a fan running when the heat is on, the controls can be wired up so the humidifier will turn the fan on to: check the humidity, keep the humidifier going (if heat turns off but more humidity is needed), or even start the humidifier if the heat system hasn't run recently.
When I read reviews before buying, the use of water was noted as a concern. It really doesn't use much water, but to explain how much think of this: if you've ever watched the drain line in the summer when the air conditioner is on, it's taking water out of the air, right? Double that amount. That's what is NOT being used that is going down the drain.
It's not noisy, either. Just a "click" is heard in the solenoid as it turns the water on/off. It bright my home up from 20% humidity to 40% in two hours. Then it just maintains it. I haven't touched it since I installed it.
Also, if your furnace has a 24VAC supply, you may not need to install the one they provide. I think mine does but I didn't bother planning in that direction. I installed the kit-provided transformer on the switch box.
The filter needs replacement once a year.
Enjoy the photos. Ignore the asbestos tape...I know, I know, It's on the list. House is a fixer upper. Total install time and cost including drive to get parts and all additional wiring needed, etc. : $200, six hours. But that included some things like a new furnace switch, and some plenum modification with sheet metal patch fabrication.

Simple method to reduce melting point
Flux kind of burns off fast, but perfectly fine for situation. Solder is low temp and mixes with existing higher temp, allowing easy removal of SMD component.

Easy to use, but wire is weak spot
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich This is a great tool. Buttons and screen are nice finish and feel and options are intuitive. However, thermocouple jack is two slots and they are TIGHT. Prongs are different sizes too ensure proper orientation when inserting, but it takes a bit of effort to get it in. Plastic around wire is cheap feeling. Also has a shock case and carry case that are good quality.
I used this tool to prove the professionals overcharged my AC system... They used a clamp style and the pipe had a bump on it, preventing from an accurate reading. When they slid the clamp to a different spot, their reading was like mine. You won't be disappointed.
