MY EXPERIENCE SHOPPING ON EBAY
Gears of War made my son extremly happy; he's been playing the game just about nonstop on-line with his friends. I've had a lot of fun watching him play too. The vendor was great; the game seemed to arrive in no time at all. The most daunting task in my search for the game was Ebay itself. When I decided to look for the game I came to Ebay first. I told myself you know it's going to take hours to search the listings as it seems that there's something wrong with the site lately. I used to be able to blow thru a catagory in no time at all.
I would go over to the search menu and find the different groups of categories, scroll down, click on 'show all items'; this in turn would break out every item in that category and I could home right in on what I was looking for. This doesn't seem to be an option anymore. I miss it quite a bit.
Anyway I digress; sorry about that. Well now when I sit down to search for an item Ebay gives me their choices within a category and I have to work with what they give me. So,I started going thru the listings of the video games and was able to narrow my search to Gears of War. It does seem easier when you're not looking at different things within a group like guitars. You can narrow it down to what you want but there are different years and models and colors. It's nice to have that kind of variety, but that seems to be where the problem begins. You see when I click on an item it takes forever to load and when I decide that I want to go back to the listings that's when Ebay really slows down. So what I do is put the tv on and channel surf while I'm waiting for the listings to load again.Once the listings have loaded I go back to channel surfing on the tv and wait till I can scroll down to see more listings. Then I choose the next item to click on and wait for it to load while,you guessed it, I channel surf some more.
Now I know this must sound pretty boring to you, but I really have a good time doing things this way; especially if I really want to bid on something very important. You see I have a lot of time on my hands as I have nothing better to do than to wait for the listings and the items to load. I have found that what doesn't take long to load are the different ads that come up. You would think that with all this time I have on my hands that I might, you guessed it, contact Ebay to see if there was maybe a way that I wouldn't have to wait so long and I could shop more categories and view more items and spend more money here.
Well to my surprise a nice young man, his name I think was 'auto response'; yes that was it, 'auto response' answered my email. Just think of how surprised I was to get an answer in minutes from him. It was so warm and personalized. He pointed out that it was all my fault and the Ebay site was just as fast as it's always been and it was something I was doing wrong, and how could I doubt such a nice kind response. Then after talking with a few friends about Ebay I found that they were having the same trouble as I was. Now I see complaints about this problem on the 'rants and raves' section on Craigslist; amazing! I sent an email to the CEO of Ebay and 'auto response' replied.
So you tell me...did I have fun?
