Excellent geek home switch. Admin access available *locally* w/out password
Usefully there is a mechanism to reset the root password (from the serial port only, and requiring the mac address of the unit).
Once into the unit it has telnet/http/rs232 access available, and is doing all I've asked of it so far.
I haven't yet set up any vlans, but they look like they will be easy enough to configure.
One modification I made (for a home environment) is to replace the fans with quieter versions. The load on a home network won't stress the unit anyway, and the WAF bonus from quieter fans was required.
And fankly this isn't going into a server room any more - 24 100Mbit ports are great for home, slow for an office.

It's unifi gear...
If you're familiar with unifi gear then you don't need to read this, if not...
It's "prosumer" grade networking - it has the main features of more enterprise product lines whilst the price is still somewhat reasonable. The ease of configuration makes it a useful tool for people who want some control over their network.
