Excellent!
If one wishes to subjugate a people, the first thing you do is take away their religion. Their laws, rules of conduct, and culture will soon follow. Then, replace it with your own, making certain that those subjugated can never aspire to be your equal, they will always be inferior. That is how it is done, that's how it has always been done. Encounters Unforeseen illustrates this process vividly. There is no such thing as an earthly paradise. From the very beginning, man's corruption destroys it. This book reads like a morality play, filled with vivid characters, descriptive settings, and a plot as old as time itself. This is an outstanding piece of work, compelling and well researched. The only fault I found is a lack of a pronouncing guide in the glossary of Taino words. As a work of historical fiction I find it rates in the upper level category. I believe the late James A. Michener would approve, and that is the highest compliment I pay an author. R.J. Russo
