Been a Pat Metheny fan most of my life. Nuff said.
First original set compositions for a few years and with some new personnel. Fantastic production gives the cinematic soundscapes all the space and nuances required. Needs a few listens to get to grips with the themes, but that’s a positive! Top class musicianship from world class musicians.
Pat Metheny never fails to deliver. In my ears anyway. I could be a bit biased tho’.
On a more melancholy note I’m really going to miss pianist Lyle Mays who featured on many of the Pat Metheny Group records who sadly passed away in February this year. RIP Lyle you were a one off!
