MINOLTA MAXXUM 800si
4 von 4 finden das hilfreich Minolta has always been an excellent brand--the Toyota of cameras as far as I am concerned.I was very unhappy when they gave up making film cameras last year but understand that marketing wasn't the same as the digital had made it easier for people to take pictures that were 'foolproof', almost.
The 800si is excellent for the beginner and for the professional as a back-up camera. It has all the bells and whistles necessary to keep things interesting for the tinkerer and experimenter in photography for a long, long time. I have digital cameras but I am still not convinced that it is better than a film camera. A digital can give me a faithful copy of what 'it' sees but I think a film camera takes a copy of what 'I' see.

Canadian Baking Book Delivers!
This is an excellent book. Robin Hood is a flour brand in Canada the way Pillsbury is a US brand. The book has interesting variations on some common recipes we have here. But it also has some really interesting recipes based on the shared cultural heritage of England and France in Canada. There are also recipes for regional specialties that Americans are not familiar with so it's a very intriguing book to get new recipes and ideas from.
A good example would be how they don't make rice crispies cereal treats there like we do. Their variation on that has oats, coconut and dried fruits instead. Otherwise the rice cereal is just an addition to the cookie/treat mixed into a light batter that is baked. And they have a nice number of variations on that.
I really liked this book and intend to keep tabs on future booklets from the company.

Awesome Camera!
4 von 4 finden das hilfreich The camera lives up to the hype in the manual and adverts when this camera was available in the open market. Item I got was brand new and performed beautifully. Had previously gotten an A2 which was the camera after this one and it was about as good as that one was with hardly much difference in my opinion, which I know is completely in the non-professional level. Would recommend to anyone looking for a high-end camera with enough features to keep you occupied for a long time to come. I feel that until regular household printers get to the level of producing pictures equivalent to the professional shops, I won't need to upgrade needlessly to the 10MP and 12 MP level.
