Great filtration & value
Been running this style of filter on my cars & bike now for years & would never go back. There is a claimed performance advantage but honestly I've never really noticed a difference one way or the other, however the filtration is superb. Where these excel (for me at least) is the savings over time. OK, price is 3 times a paper filter but these last a lifetime, literally. My last car ran one for 780,000 km & filter was still like new. Only ongoing cost is the spray on oil to coat it when you clean it but a $20 can lasts 8 - 10 cleans. Only down side is it adds 1/2 hour to servicing (3minutes to clean, 20 minutes to dry, 2 minutes to oil) but the savings are well worth it. Highly recommend these things.

Great for general use & hunting knives
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich Very easy & quick to use on any blade with included cutting edge angle of 44 degrees, such as almost all hunting knives, pocket knives, etc. Under 20 seconds leaves a Very sharp edge. Handles straight or serrated edges (using fold out tapered diamond file). Small, slim design is an easy fit in pocket when out on farm, on the job etc.
Note the fixed angle means it's not suited to many chef's knives, filleting knives etc as they usually have a narrower included angle, but the pocket style design is not intended for those applications.
For intended use this sharpener is excellent. I'm very happy with it.

A good, reliable, high performance and feature rich hand held unit.
I needed a GPS which would work for me in the truck/car, the boat, and in the bush while hunting. This GPS, loaded with Aus. Topo and street maps, fits the bill well - with some minor compromises. Accuracy is pretty good at 3m and it registers satellites quite quickly (usually in about 30 seconds).
On the road, its mapping and routing system works very well, quickly recalculating routes if you miss a turn (or have to avoid a weight restricted bridge - truck). The trip computer can easily be configured to give all sorts of info like speed, top speed reached, time, direction, elevation, coordinates, etc.
Down sides are as there is no provision for remote powering as in dedicated car units, the back light times out at maximum 2 minutes, or turn off battery saver to keep light on but chew batteries, which can be a down side for night driving, but that's a compromise with a hand held unit. Also, entering addresses when setting a route is a bit fiddly, but you get used to it pretty quickly.
On the water, this unit is fully waterproof which is good (I haven't tried seeing if it sinks though!). With standard mapping it gives speed, direction, depth (Mapped, so accuracy with tides, lake levels etc will vary accuracy), settable depth alarms, best fishing times, etc. Other marine maps can be downloaded giving more info but at a cost. Another handy function which I hope to never need is the 'man overboard' function to mark a search start-point.
On the land, in the bush etc it has many useful tools including mapping (obviously), elevation, elevation shading, elevation plotting, tri-axis compass, track logging, 2000 way-points, 3D view, Geocaches, various fully customisable profile settings (dashboards), sun and moon fazes, etc.
Hunting unfamiliar territory is far better and safer with a unit like this, giving elevation, waterways, tracks, route tracking, etc to plan routes and best cover area. I really can't see how anyone could possibly get lost with one of these!
Additional features of this unit include area calculations (a farmer mate finds this great for determining/planning pasture sizes and shaping), calender, hunt/fish times, calculator, alarm clock, stopwatch, sight'n'go, wireless sharing, photo viewing, etc.
In general, this is a rugged, reliable, accurate unit with more features than most will ever need.
The touch screen can be viewed reasonably well even in direct sunlight. Can zoom in/out on maps in all modes to best suit purpose. If switched off to replace or save batteries it saves routes, stats, etc so you instantly pick up where you left off. It can be configured to show all the info you require on the one dashboard.
It chews through batteries faster than expected though, especially when used solidly, - 7-10 hours from alkaline (I now use rechargable NiMH with a spare set on hand).
Also cost of extra/specialised maps can run to hundreds of dollars. (Thankfully mine came with Aust. topo and street maps loaded). Worth keeping in mind when buying a unit.
There's also nowhere to attach a neck cord if that's your preference, other than to the cumbersome supplied 'D clip'.
Finally, this is my first GPS so my experience is limited but friends with other units are very impressed with its features and performance. Garmin has a very good reputation and I can see why. I'd highly recommend this GPS to anyone who needs something more than just an in-car unit.
