These are great little flashlights. Read NOTE
These are great little flashlights but do have one small issue. Due to the small size of these lights, great for carrying in a pocket, if you run them at the high power setting for more than about 5-10 minutes they get quite hot. This problem is due to the small size providing a limited amount of Aluminum to act as a heat sink, spreader, to carry heat from the lamp. For most this would never be an issue and the convenient size is great. These things are so bright that rarely would you need to run them at high power anyway. I love these things so much I now have a total of 8 of them. They are VERY well built and solid and I highly recommend them to anyone needing a compact Li+ flashlight. Note that you will need a 14500 "AA Size" Lithium Ion rechargeable battery for each flashlight and a charger to charge the battery. Since these batteries are very slow to self-discharge you can probably get away with just one charger for several batteries.

Great value if you are a builder.
I am an electronics hobbyist and Ham Radio Operator who love to build little projects. I was going to build a project with a PIC micro-controller and some 7-segment displays, letting the micro-controller, multiplex the displays. I found that this device, which was VERY cost effective, let me drive 8 characters with 3 wires, vs about 12 doing it directly. Super easy to write data to and very configurable. I am fairly bad at doing serial communications but since this is Synchronous Serial (Clock, Data, Enable) it was easy. Got it working in a couple of hours with no example to refer to.
If you need a simple way to add an 8 digit display to your project this is IT! An added bonus is that once you figure out how to use this there are 8x8 LED matrices available with this MAX7219 driver chip that are just as easy to use.

Only tested one out of the batch but it worked fine. Look as good as any I ever bought at RadioShack. A fantastic value.
