Great Historical Performance Recorded for an Audience

This was one of the few early digital recordings that was done right. Unlike others that where microphones were placed through out the orchestra to capture the sounds of the individual instruments for the more compressed analog pressing. This led to harsh unnatural recordings where a single instrument will over ride the entire orchastra instead of being heard rising above it.
This was miked in such a way as to capture the audience experience.

Good quality mono recorder
I have experience with the icd-p520. It is a good reliable performer for my purposes which is primarily for recording interviews conducted for market research. I was able to get it for about half of the model that I would prefer.
The buttons and the recording indicator are a bit small but for my purpose as long as I push record before speaking then all is well and good sound although stereo would be nice. Great battery life. And if you are recording more than 130 hours then you have more to say than I do.
This is a nice little recorder for notes and phone recording with an adapter. Makes for a cheap main business recorder or a backup for more general purpose stereo recorders.

Sturdy Camp Knife
Love this knife. The handle is made for big hands and longer than a Mora. The blade is heavy duty with a rough but 90-degree spine. While not full tang, the tang is two-thirds or so into the handle which is also considerably further than a Mora. The secondary bevel is small and can be sharpened as is for a strong edge or easily taken out for a finer cut. A true workhorse of a knife with fine Japanese steel. The sheath is nothing to write home about but at $12 dollars for this knife, I can live with it or modify to meet my needs. Lots of coverage on You Tube and none have been negative about this one.
