Alloy adjustable stem.
This item is good value for money, but is not well finished.
Don't expect top quality, but it is servicable & works well.
In other words you get what you pay for.
For me it was just what I wanted: )

Good in parts, but not all parts.
The Panasonic SD-2511 is a fully specced Breadmaker which does an excellent job.
But I would not buy another with the plastic lid hinges which are weak, wobbly & prone to damage, as demonstrated by several damaged machines with faulty hinges offered on Ebay...
