replacement mirror good but adhesive is not

The replacement mirror was good and close to original in looks. However the silicone adhesive sent to mount the metal tab to the windshield did not work. I cleaned off the old residue, let dry 24 hours, set new metal tab with silicone adhesive sent with mirror, taped down, and let it set for 4 days (was out of town). Upon mounting the mirror and tightening the set screw the tap came right off the windshield. The silicone was still tacky and not set. I had to go to the Home Depot to get glass glue to properly set mirror to the windshield.
