For the general lover of Oriental rugs not the specialist.
John Gregorian's hardback book on Oriental Rugs of the Silk Route follows the subtitle of his Armenian rug dealer father Arthur T.Gregorian's numerous U.S.rug exhibitions beginning in at least the 1970s of the Gregorian family collection of antique rugs. But it focuses not on that collection (documented in the numerous catalogue pamphlets printed for each venue) but more on modern oriental rugs that he and his father purchased in countries through which carpets travelled for centuries along the Silk Route on their way to market. His story is a personal one of learning to be a rug buyer & dealer at the side of his father & then on his own through the 2nd half of the 20th c. As such it is informative and entertaining even if adding little scholarly information about oriental rugs, which was not its aim. A book much more for the general lover of oriental rugs than for new or additional academic information about them. Excellent, large color photos of the rugs, places & people (Iran, Turkey, India) where John Gregorian learned the art of negotiation (a chapter in itself with family photos & interesting cultural background of each place). Standard, general information on the making of rugs. Ends with a general look at decorating with Oriental rugs & maintaining them.

Among our favorite Wysocki 1000 piece puzzles
Among the best of Charles Wysocki's winter scenes. Filled with much detail and many children at play on the grounds around Plumbelly's donut barn. Unlike Buffalo Games' Wysocki puzzles, no poster accompanies Milton Bradley/ Hasbro puzzles. The small image on the box top is sufficient to aid in building the puzzle while allowing you to discover surprising details when seen larger in the completed scene. A vintage puzzle & among our favorites within the 130 Wysocki puzzles we own.

Well designed cover
Well designed commemorative cover for 25th anniversary of US moon landing with high value express mail stamp (Scott 2842) lightly canceled and with certified serial number. The Eagle motif reproduces the original logo for 1969's Apollo 11 mission. Fine stamp commemoration for collectors of moon landing memorabilia.
