Chillingly prescient
5 von 6 finden das hilfreich First published in 1974, this tale of a million-strong immigrant invasion of Europe seems ripped from today's headlines. Raspail's prose is artistic, if occasionally florid, and his characters are memorable. A great read.

Truth is stranger than fiction
And often more entertaining!
Steve Hodel's years-long investigation of his late father's connections with Elizabeth Short, the infamous "Black Dahlia" murder victim, let him into dark areas he probably didn't want to navigate. But he continued.
His logic is first-rate and, absent interviews or confessions from the two main suspects, produces the most conclusive evidence we'll ever see on this case. The lately-discovered trascripts of wiretaps from 1950, and the statement from an L.A. County prosecutor that he would prosecute this case today were the suspect still alive, are the compelling codas in the book.
Although I'd heard of this infamous case years ago--and this book was originally published in 2003--I only discovered the book recently. But it's a bombshell. The case is closed.
