Bought as a gift
I bought this as a gift for my friend, but it came in great condition and I'm sure he will enjoy putting it together.

Mandarin II

This is an excellent source for those who just want to learn basic Conversational Chinese, not how to recognize Chinese characters. The biggest hurdle my children jumped through from listening to the phrases/sentences and practicing answering countless questions is that they no longer feel "awkward" saying the words. In other words, the "funny-sounding" foreign language now sounds "normal". Each lesson builds on the previous ones and the first half of the lesson is mostly review questions so the listener doesn't get overwhelmed. My kids listen to each lesson about 3-4 times before they advance to the next one. They are allowed to do some "mind-less" activities (Lego building, coloring, doodling etc.) while repeating the phrases after the second time around, so I don't get too much resistance from them. Keep in mind though, this method is not what the CD designer had in mind. My husband listens to the CD on his way to work and feels that's how he can concentrate best.
