A slice of life and death for a single, simple man who happens to be a soldier. This brilliant production explores the insanity of war and how those at the bottom of the pecking order are the ones to suffer. Spectacular performances by Tom Courtenay and Dirk Bogarde. Also a small but unforgettable performance by Leo McKern A MUST SEE FILM.

See this GEM before you Die, over and over again

An almost perfect Movie with a Brilliant restoration. I wasn't even born in 1948 but I'm sure this is how cinema goers saw it back then. Vivid colours, an excellent story and cast. BRILLIANT! Powell and Pressburger at their best. And did I mention that Moira Shearer is STUNNING!

Enigma (DVD, 2003, Special Edition)

Wonderful and fun.

Great film, great cast but buyer beware: ONLY buy the Special Edition of this dvd movie. The regular edition is very grainy and dark.
