Better performing -- and cheaper
No joke, I tried putting the last filter (caked with calcium) through the washing machine ... and it crumbled except for the nylon cage. This filter is $10 -- including shipping -- vs. $13-$14 (plus shipping) from other sources.

Like Duvall, love the wife & son

Robert Duvall's portrayal gives realistic insight to fighter pilot mentality and the tragedy when he carries it over into his family life. Blythe Danner had to swallow a lot of pride to play the military wife "expected" to succumb to her husband's lifestyle. They're both outshone by a young Michael O'Keefe (a teen in 1979) as he "grows" on the screen, maturing in his role as the colonel's son desperately seeking his father's approval.
