A+
Very few people write with the language-use ability as does Charles W. Gusewelle. I've read his Kansas City Star columns for years and they never grow old. His wry wit and sly humor enable him to comment about life's often overlooked memorable moments with fondness and understanding. His readings were attended in an atmosphere of respect and near reverence.
For those of us who, as children, had that one special dog, the Rufus Chronicle is just the right memoir to enable us to recall times and emotions that had been forgotten as we grew up and forgot the simple truths and pure love of our childhood. My first dog was named Bozo and this book helped me recall forgotten memories and times that could not be replicated other than by reading this book of someone else who had the same experiences as I had. Thanks, Charles.

A tale of Touching Meaning
This tale of canine fidelity and bonding touches the heart more and more the further that you read. At the end, you may remember your own long ago loss of your best buddy dog that you may have repressed because it was too painful to remember. But this time with greater appreciation of how it helped you learn about the wisdom and richness of all of life's experiences, both joyful and painful, and how a full life means experiencing both to understand it.
