Ear plugs
These earplugs dampen down the noise while allowing me to hear my intercom and traffic. The seem to let music through at a louder level to my navigation app - which is a bit of a shame, and white is not the best colour for something you ram in your ear.
Overall though on a long trip I think they will reduce a bit of the fatigue of following someone with a loud can. They seem a little pricey but I suppose you have them for life and you have to pay for the development costs.
