Great Lakes Ore Docks and Ore Cars

I've never seen one of these ore docks (or coal dock) for loading ships. I DO have several of the Walthers Ore Dock structure kits. This reference nearly puts me 'in the chute' to understanding the operation and construction of the prototypes in order to build a better model. I can almost hear the cacophony of noise, feel the thunder of tons of taconite ore slamming into the steamer hold, choke on the dust. A model builder would find this text absolutely essential to prototype operation techniques and standards. I will probably buy a second book - one to keep and the other to consume in the hobby kit building process and prototype railroading.

HALOGEN replacement NOT XENON

MY mistake -- I carefully measured a XENON-bulb from a puck light. These LED HALOGEN REPLACEMENTS were duplicates in height and diameter, but OEM XENON bulbs are slightly tapered from G-8 base to tip of glass envelope, just a little bit bigger at end of glass envelope than XENON bulb. HOWEVER, the LED HALOGEN bulbs worked, (TIGHT FIT, be careful installing), and worked well -- BRILLIANT white light. Problem: I could not get filter cover back onto puck fixture. Because pucks are ceiling-mounted, I see no problem with this shortcoming. AND LED does not emit in UV wavelengths, so UV-filter cover is not needed. Brilliant white light (~6000 Kelvin). Brighter than OEM xenon, and very little heat. LED HALOGEN puck fixtures will soon replace existing xenon pucks soon in preference to use these LED HALOGEN bulb REPLACEMENTS. Available at both major home centers, buy ONE for a trial fit. Otherwise shop through Ebay.
