Excellent depiction of small town lives
I don’t know if this is for the book or the DVD but borh are extraordinary! I am a big Carson McCullers fan & I marvel at her writing, especially as she was 23 when she wrote “heart”.
The characters, their feelings, thoughts & actions are finely drawn & memorable.
I highly recommend both the book & the movie.

Meet Carson and Reeves McCullers
Very satisfying snapshot of Carson McCullers in her own words. I strongly disagree with reviewers who claimed it was fragmented, free association, unchronological.
I found it highly chronological and cohesive and had no trouble understanding it. For anyone intrigued by this author, don't miss out on this chance to get to know her. The letters between her and her husband Reeves belie her fictional statement about there being a lover and a beloved. Their love seemed highly reciprocal as long as he was overseas. Perhaps their longing was overstated due to loneliness and distance, as they couldn't make it together in person. But Reeves was a lost purposeless alcoholic, so it was a sad story for both of them.
