soft, non-toxic pastels
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I am new to pastels and can only compare these to Faber-Castell soft pastels. These are a bit softer, which makes blender easier, but they tend to be a bit more powdery, meaning they don't stick as well to the paper as Faber-Castell. However, I have not used specific pastel paper with either. Using the correct paper would make a huge difference in the application. PastelMat is the most highly recommended pastel paper (I just don't have any yet.) The colors are not quite as intense as Faber-Castells, but still make pretty art. For a beginner, or for someone who just needs more soft pastel colors, I would recommend these.

Faber-Castell Soft Pastels have intense colors
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich They are very small, but easy to use. See my first pastel picture below. I did not have specific pastel paper or the detail would have been better. They are not as powdery as another pastel set I tried, which is good because Faber-Castell pastels stayed on the paper well. The only thing I can say against them--which goes for most pastels--is that they are not non-toxic. However, most art supplies are toxic, so artists know to be careful and to wash hands well and often. I've heard that using a paper face mask can help prevent inhalation of toxic dust. However, when I used them, they really didn't produce much dust on my 4x6" picture of a butterfly on golden flowers. (see below)
