Very underrated and lesser known Technics model.
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich This TT produces great sound with the right cartridge. It does have some 'known issues', however that's just because it's older and most just need a tune up. It may not have the most accurate speed when you get one of these, but all it needs is a little cleaning of the speed trim pots and pitch adjustment trim pots, and maybe a little bit of lube on the spindle bearing, which you can get the right lube easily on Amazon or Kabusa.
I have a Ortofon Blue cartridge on mine. It really brings out the voice of the records.
Technics is Direct Drive for right.
Other minor maintenance things and mods to turn this into a really top notch turntable include replacing the feet, which wear out over time, this allows for better leveling and vibration dampening and isolation (also check Kabusa). Kabusa also sells a tonearm rewiring kit with a bit of tubing to go inside the wand to help with dampening and isolation, as well as more flexible wires for smoother, more free, movements.
I'm not affiliated in any way with Kabusa, they just are known for their Technics upgrades and mods, and carry the best selection of parts for technics anywhere. Plus they're really friendly and helpful if you email them with questions.
Anyways, if you can find one of these around 150, get it, slap a nicer cartridge on it, and you'll have a much better sounding table than anything you can get new for the price of the table plus cartridge. I got mine for $150, got a deal on an Ortofon blue cartridge and am really confident in saying that it sounds way better than a new $400 turntable. (for comparison, the table @ 150 + 25 head shell + 236 Ortofon 2M Blue = $411).
