An inexpensive upgrade with major results.
I bought a used Intel Core i7-3612QM to upgrade a Lenovo Thinkpad e430, which was originally equipped with an Core i3. The installation was not difficult, but use thermal paste and make sure the processor is compatible with your motherboard and bios (consult a tutorial if you've never done it before). The result in my case was significant. Prior to the upgrade, the computer was almost unusable; now it's working just fine.
