    new battery revived ancient laptop
Bought this to replace totally dead old battery. It arrived early, i plugged it into the laptop, it showed about 40% power (as expected for an off-the-shelf battery). I charged it to 100%, then ran the laptop for a half hour. The laptop's display thought that it would last another hour and a half, so i was happy. I recharged it again, then removed the battery for a week. After that week, i powered it up today for this review. The storage and boot-up took 10% of the battery. So perhaps it needs another couple of charge cycles to hold full power. But for my purposes (being able to ditch the 100 foot extension cord for short walks between work stations), it's great! Performs as desired. BUT: the product listing and the battery's own label say 5200 mAh... the battery weighs the same as the original 4000 mAh pack, so i suspect it's really 4000 mAh.
Garmin DriveSmart 50LMTHD 5" GPS w/ Lifetime Maps & Traffic (NUVI UPGRADE)

    Easily exceeds performance of others.
Purchased in lieu of renting a car's GPS for a trip to Costa Rica. It has been performing well for the last year, map updates happen fairly regularly, operation is better than most other brands i've tried (up to triple the price). It lacks a couple of minor features than my 20-year-old Sony (no longer in the GPS business) has, but its traffic alerts, availability of foreign maps and its current maps make it my current winner. It *would* be nice if there was a way to send mapping (especially speed limits) corrects to Garmin's map source. We recently drove on Vancouver Island and Washington's Olympic Peninsula which revealed a number of errors (so keep reading the road signs, folks!). Things it lacks (compared to my 1999 Sony): a built-in Male voice, doesn't say "bear right" if the turn is shallow, a 20-foot earlier "turn NOW" trigger point (but it's far better than TomTom's), an ETA display (without losing some other info).
Battery Monitor Meter Wireless DC 120V 100A VOLT AMP AH SOC Remaining Capacity

A great device which performs well ... easily performs as well as $200+ montiors.
I finally got around to installing this into my system. The installation was very easy, except the vagueness of the drawing had me installing the inductive pickup "backwards" (so it read postive for loads and negative for charging) ... but it only took a moment to correct that. It's now perched above my solar controller in a small RV setup. The current reading it does matches the solar controller's ideas of the currents flowing into the battery and off to loads. I have two wires passing through the inductive pickup (hole size 20mm, by the way ... that would have been a nice number to know beforehand) ... one wire is a 10 gauge PV wire to/from the solar controller (and its loads) and the other is a 2 gauge from the battery to the 1kw inverter. This monitor reads them both reasonably accurately. Setup of the monitor for my system (telling it bank capacity, choosing a 60 second display timeout, etc) was simple via the buttons. I added a white paper label to make the buttons easier to see. An added plus is that the display head can be disconnected (USB-A cable) without interrupting the monitor's controller (and memory) ... so repositioning the display is easy without losing current state-of-charge. Even if the controller *is* disconnected/powered down, it remembers the settings provided. I've tested it with "known loads" up to 50 amps, and the display appears believable. I have not yet tried setting up the built-in WiFi system.
