Gibson's apotheosis of solid body construction - and sound

The '71-72 Gibson embossed P/U's are about as good as it gets in the post-PAF category - The Les Pauls from this era are no lightweights, but by merit of their dense mahogany (usually sandwiched construction) they are Gibson's apotheosis of solid body construction mated to their absolutely rippin' humbucker sound. I don't think their modern weight relieved models can compete with these.
