ShenHao Center Hole Lens Board Compur #0 Linhof Technika Wista Ebony Chamonix

Better than Luland!

At two different times, I ordered a Luland Copal #0 center hole Technika-compatible for my 90mm and 75mm lenses on my Chamonix 4x5" camera. My bad but with the pandemic, I never got around to mounting the lenses on the boards. Well, when I finally tried, the Luland boards did NOT fit properly onto the front standard of the Chamonix. They a-l-m-o-s-t fit but the large 3D ring on the back did not properly fit the large hole in the camera's front standard like it was supposed to. The board was tipped just slightly forward due to the ill fit which meant the locks could not fully hold onto the board. Wait? What???? So, of course, I contacted Luland. their response? Well, it SHOULD fit. Well, duh, yes. it should! I examined the boards closely and measured them too. Did Luland want to know where the problem was? No. Thanks. Wait? What??? Knowing if one of my beautiful expensive lenses fell to the ground and got damaged or broken, most likely they would not pay for repair or replacement, I knew I had to find another board supplier. I knew other large format photographers were using Shen Hao cameras and praised them for their quality so I looked for a Shen Hao Copal #0 center hole lens board. I found them here on eBay. Good news, they were not in China, they were in Kentucky which meant I would have to wait only a few days, not a month or two! Yes, the cost was a few dollars more, but to be honest, that really didn't matter at this point, I wanted something that worked. Not being a fool (once burned, twice smart) I ordered one to test. It arrived here in Atlanta in TWO days! Wow! Now for the big test... how did it fit into my Chamonix? Perfectly. Well, of course, I'm about to order the second one as soon as I publish this review. Unlike the product photos, this DOES NOT ZOOM!

The product photos show the light beam from narrow to wide. NOT TRUE! This flashlight does NOT ZOOM! With that said, it seems to be well made and VERY bright. Settings: on, off, low, rapid flickering, bright. Some other flashlights like this have an S.O.S. mode while this one does not. I really don't care about that one way or another. I will be buying some more of these - one for each of my photography equipment cases. If you are looking for one of these, I assume you know that you will need some 18650 batteries and a charger - all of which are easily found on eBay.
