THE VOICE OF A GODDESS
Such flawless vocal technique & a rich, warm mezzo voice as complement. What a Star Vivica Genaux! If there is one criticism of this C/D it is that inferior recording technology (dated) has not been able to balance voice & orchestra PERFECTLY- Some of the hues of the god's orchestration have not been maximised. No fault of the Performers though- Simply stunning!

DON'T EXPECT 'FIREWORKS'
I wouldn't label these cameo Chamber works 'Masterpieces', as does the CD description. And certainly don't expect any Wind instruments for colour. Indeed, the concertante violin is merely a 'relief' for the ritornello. That said, the Works are lovingly crafted by the Basil Chamber Orchestra, & a few jewels are to be found.

REFINED OR RAW?
One either likes the refined, conservative interpretation of Baroque repertoire that is the hallmark of Tafelmusik, or not. All the pieces on this recording, are indeed, conservative examples of their Master's Art. So, those of us that enjoy 'flashier' repertoire of these gods of Music, will be disappointed. Raw or refined sugar, I think is a useful analogy for this Recording. This is at the 'refined' end of the spectrum. I've heard better.
