Nearly an L type
Looking at MTF charts I was looking for lenses to compete with the L type but for a cropped camera; meaning I only need to check up to 13.6mm and since my interest is in HDR f8 where my camera is f11 diffraction limited. (Things start to get more blurred above f11)
It quickly became apparent that the zooms were out of my price range and so I got two primes and a cheap zoom 80-200mm which is only good at 135mm.
The 50mm prime is every bit as good as an L type at f8 but is good resolution throughout and very fast. Being internal focusing allows me to fit polarisers and special Cokin type filters.
It is the lightest and cheapest ef lens reflected in the quality of build and special care has to be taken to line up the red dots; I've heard of them sticking on the camera but I haven't had a problem. It would have been nice to have distance marks on the lens and a metal mount but that would increase the cost, and it is almost half the RRP on Ebay making it a very attractive buy.

Thought needed by designers
3 von 4 finden das hilfreich Everything works fine as advertised but why didn't the designers think of how to empty it; if the power lead disconnected from the device it would be much easier to empty.
Also I couldn't find a full mark and the only powered bit in the middle is the most useful part for me but works better when wet.
Very useful for anybody that can't bend or twist so four stars.
