ZSH-Pro Savage Alnico II High Output Guitar Humbucker Pickups

Excellent Alnico II pickups!

After trying several single-coil pickup combinations in an China "Strat" project, I decided to take a chance and give these ZSH-Pro Savage Alnico II High Output Guitar Humbucker pickups a try. I'm glad I did! The guitar is a Monoprice brand from a year ago. It had good "bones"(excellent frets, maple neck, rosewood fretboard and basswood body), but needed some hardware upgrades. I added a Graphtech Trem Nut, Fender Vintage Tremolo and Raw Vintage Trem springs. The single-coil pickup combinations I tried, always left me thinking I'm wasting time and money. There just always seemed to be a bit of "muddiness" or "dullness" to the sound. I put these ZSH-Pro in and the sound is exactly what I'd been hoping for out of this guitar. It's "open", with the right brightness and power. I wired it for split-coil and that sounds nice as well. I imagine these pickups would work well too, with a mahogany body Les Paul type guitar. They sure bring a nice "life" to basswood.
