Don't skimp, buy a pretty copy of this book!
I read this book because a good friend recommended it... then I had to own a copy of my own. I hunted down the prettiest copy I could find to add to my collection of favorite books.
This story is an allegory of the Christian life. It doesn't hide the sorrows, pain or aches that we feel as we walk this journey with Christ - and it shows you what's on the other side of those trials and tribulations. It reminds you to keep trusting the Shepherd, even when your logic tells you it makes no sense..on the other side of the situation, God's fingerprints will be made plain.

The book isn't very many pages, but it's enough. I purchased this book to get the magnets anyway - my daughter wanted them for a metal cabinet that we use for our clothes. It includes Sam I am and Guy. We're very pleased.

It felt like a hug from Thailand!
I read previous reviews of this film being too violent, and I can see how people who only looked at the cute packaging could feel lied to.. but this isn't an American fairy tale and shouldn't be judged as such.
It's a Thai story that shares amazing insights into the Thai culture! The Thai way of thinking, way of life, way of dreaming and way of telling a story.
It does have an element of ancestor worship, but that's also in line with Buddhism in Thai culture.
It shows the sometimes strained relationship between the Burmese and the Thai people - and explains why things are the way they are (and how they didn't have to be). It shows how gracious the King of Thailand is for letting the Burmese refugees stay in his country; and it even shows how the Thai people revere and adore their King. For these facets of the film alone, I'm very happy to own it.
I'm only sorry that I didn't buy more Khan Kluay merch when I was in Thailand this past winter, it's nowhere to be found here in the states!
