Mode 3

If writing your own driver put the SPI interface in Mode 3 for better compatibility with other devices on the same SPI. The battery negative sometimes does not make good contact with the PCB pad. Unsolder the battery holder, put a very thin layer of solder down on the pad, and then resolder on the clip.
