BANG for the buck. Very impressive quality welds and finish. Better than expected
On my 2016 king ranch Ecoboost 3.5L
Very impressed. Worth every penny, blood sweat...Best quality as to be expected (Garrett).
Was done on my back - which was hard cuz it's heavy plus doing intake, bov mod and charge pipes...do intercooler FIRST before other mods. Woulda been way easier to line everything up. Had to modify bumper fin border slightly to fit this monster in there. Had to remove back 1" (to be safe) of shutter frame(after following instructions and removing shroud) including very tips of perpendicular support piece on sides. The fins on your bumper are VERY SHARP. I cut myself twice on the automated Ford blades before covering them with clean shop rag/towel to avoid cutting...In order to remove it best method was to use a box cutter to create a straight line(carefully) then a pair of pliers to snap the end of the plastic off at the line I cut with razor. Kinda like tiny drywall.
It took an hour with 20 minutes wasted before cutting on the shroud frame part. Also, I gotta say, this intercooler took a beating when I was pushing and pulling it in and out of place(but not quite) I ran it up against a couple bolts on accident and bounced it against metal and sharp plastic for 20 minutes and it did not have a single scratch or bent fin. The channels in this things are massive I guess and it kinda protects them.
Hard to attest to this specific mod as far as performance, but my 4 hours in the garage was well spent and love the mods I did. The welds are beautiful and skillfully done on this intercooler.
Definitely use a lift if at all possible - would be near impossible to do on ground I was on 10" ramps and I could barely move the intercooler under the truck. Probably tmi but a great unit, for sure.
