Great value very versatile very robust but noisy
These are great value and a very common and useful op-amp chip for any audio project where you want to drive a small speaker. Its great to have a batch of 10 in my drawer to play with and to use as and when needed. They are very versatile, fairly tolerant of input voltage and with gain adjustable from 20 to 200 by adding a couple of external components. The reason for only 3 stars and the issue I have with LM386 chips is that they are noisy, they hiss. I used them in ham radio projects, often listening to weak Morse code through headphones. The audio quality is generally good but the hiss becomes intrusive. If you Google hiss from LM386 you'll find various suggestions about how to quieten them. Lots of advice about de-coupling, feedback into the gain circuit, grounding etc. Its easy and fun to try, you probably won't damage the chip by playing with it (and if you do you have 9 more!) but mostly the suggestions don't work very well. In conclusion: Good- cheap, versatile, robust, brilliant little project or educational chip, very good at what it does. Bad- intrusively noisy in some applications.

nice regulator, does what its supposed to, excellent value.
This does exactly as it is supposed to with no fuss. It seems to be well made, feels solid and good quality. Happy to recommend it.

Excellent, exactly what I wanted
Batteries fit securely, output clip is correct and tight. Seems well made and good quality. Delighted with it and would buy again if I needed another.
