Works!!
I used the dehorning paste on a 6 week old half brahma/half jersey bull calf whose horn buds were close to being thru the skin. I tied the calf to a tree and then shaved the area and put petroleum jelly around the area to be treated. I would recommend putting the jelly over a large area. I scraped the horn bud and applied the paste with a popsicle stick. It took about 3-5 minutes for the calf to start reacting to the burning. I ended up cross tying the calf to keep him from rubbing the paste off with the rope and getting it all over his head. He did get some on his ears and above his eyes. I scrubbed it off with soap and water on those areas. I can definitely see why it says to use it on very young calves. They are much easier to control. The horn buds were gone in about an hour. It does the job. Be very careful not to get it on other areas. It will burn the hair off and can blind the animal if it gets in their eyes.
