Of course I took it out of the box, charged the battery and just started using it, it is not my first nikon. It is pretty self explanatory, there were a couple of things I had to read about. The auto setting are different than my D40x, the lock on the settings knob being the first difference. This bundle is awesome, although I haven't used the large lens yet. The flash that comes in this kit doesn't have instructions and I am having a little trouble getting it to time correctly. At this point with the little bit that I have used the camera I feel like it is a good quality purchase.
