Plausible crime invention with a chemical and philatelic slant.
The first one to read of what I call the 'Flavia's'. I bought this for my husband who expressed an interest in seeing just what was engrossing me so over the last few months. He has pronounced it 'colourful' and 'excellent'. He looked up a few references thrown up by the book and got lost in those too. There are a few hesitancies in the narrative, things that the author fleshes out as the series goes on. I totally loved the philatelic and chemistry history nuances - not often you get these in any fiction. I'm a complete fan and have not tired of the originality and readability of these books and this is a special one. I pronounce the protagonist's name I think wrongly. I say it the European way like the Irish Féile ('Flaah), not 'Flay-via').
