Fiction Fail
The writing is pretentious. Author tries too hard. The story is not based on fact. It imagines a relationship between Lucy and one of the author’s relatives. He acknowledges it is totally fabricated. The book portrays Desi as a dolt, which we know he wasn’t. The only interest to me after struggling to complete this book is the description of the TV industry and Hollywood in the 50s.

Good beach read
This is an interesting book, although a fully realized Marlene does not emerge from the telling. It’s a portion of her life and it was definitely interesting.

I loved the humor, enjoyed the story. Good character development. It’s an enjoyable, light read. Would recommend.
