Great little scanner for the price
I love how easy this scanner was to set up. Overall, the picture quality is very good. I had previously been scanning my kids' artwork with my Epson 4-in-1 unit. When I decided to start scanning in some old family pictures, I researched and found this scanner to have good reviews. I tried it first on some artwork, since that's what I was used to, and was blown away by how beautiful and bright all of the art scans were. Then I tried some old photos, including black and whites. When scanned on the highest resolution (1200), the black and whites were actually MORE clear than the originals. The auto color correct applies a coolness over the sepia toned black and whites or red-toned color pictures and kind of sort of makes it look like it (maybe) used to. Some pictures almost took on a very slight blue cast, even without color correct, but these were mostly pictures that had poor white balance to start with. From my experience, you need to scan at least at 600 for good results, though the highter the resolution, the slower scanning is. If he pictures are small, though, you can put multiple on the screen and the scanner will automatically separate them most of the time. Sometimes it crops them inappropriately, and they need to be re-scanned. Aggravating, but not a deal breaker.
