High Mileage Diesel Diamond in the Rough
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich We (my partner and I) were shopping for a 3/4ton, supercab, Ford diesel from the 1992-1997 vintage for about a month. I live in the northeast and my current F-150 is suffering from all the salt on the roads not just body panels but parts like oil pans and gas tanks.
By keeping in that vintage vehicle, we knew we could use parts from our current truck where a new-to-us vehicle might be lacking. We also wanted to "upgrade" in some features which weren't so important to us when we bought our F-150 new in 1995. We wanted a diesel since we do a lot of towing and hauling. We wanted a southern truck because it would be free of road salt and western trucks were too far away.
We looked at dozens of trucks on eBay and even bid on many of them. Most trucks with the features we wanted were going for more than Edmunds book value (but less than NADA). We even used the VIN check feature on eBay to find that one listing the seller kept saying that the truck was too old to report the mileage. But the odometer said 165K but four years earlier, the mileage had been recorded as 185K.
The truck we bought had 336K and had a BIN of just about Edmunds Blue Book. Since we had "lost" many auctions to bidding that would take this truck higher than that, we thought it was a great value. Many people thought we were crazy with the "high" mileage, but it felt good to runt he VIN report and see consistency instead of discrepancy.
I just had a good feeling about the truck.
I flew to Dallas, TX on a Thursday and drove the truck over 1700 miles home. She was reliable and took good care of me on the trip. Sure, she wasn't as pretty and clean as some of the other trucks which were several thousand dollars more. She had cigarette burns, but mechanically she was immaculate.
I had planned on her burning a lot of oil - she didn't consume a drop in the 1700 miles.
There were some little things - like she needed a new thermostat and her coolant had not been maintained properly for a diesel - but it was a southern truck and those needs weren't so important there.
I liked buying this truck on eBay because I had access to a wide range of vehicles with the features I wanted and wasn't restricted to geography. Plus, the trucks which were most appealing had many pictures. The seller of this truck had posted over 80 photos.

Fun for TAR fans
Game is fun if you're an Amazing Race fan.
The Roadblocks, Detours, and other games get redundant quickly, but we've only played on Easy level so far.

Fits perfect and does the job
I purchased a used 2011 RAM 1500 from the south that was lifted and I pulled the lift kit out of it. This truck had been pretty well abused by its former owner and a lot of things were broken that needed attention.
One of the things I needed was this connector on the right rear because it was completely missing from the end of the harness, probably stressed from the 4" lift. Soldered it right it and it worked perfectly.
The only thing about this, if you're using it, like me when the original is completely missing, is that this clip is only the black part of the clip. If you want the red sliding lock piece, you'll need that off an OEM. I haven't worried too much about not having one. It holds on tight without the red locking piece.
