Great for FreeNAS, unimpressive RAID controller.
Great controller, particularly for FreeNAS builds, just flash it to the LSI firmware in IT mode (becoming an 8-port SATA controller) and it works flawlessly. As a RAID controller, you can do much better. This is lacking in the more advanced RAID levels like 5 and 6. If you want a hardware RAID, look at Dell PERC cards or Adaptec. But do not waste your time with Adaptec if you're doing a ZFS RAID, you will likely have issues which may mean lost data.
My only issue with this card was that it's sold as (and I believe it is) a new, unused card, but it's been stored in a humid environment, as my backplate had rust in the vent holes. It's a minimal amount and the card is fine, it's just not ideal.
Finally, you need a lot of airflow or this controller will overheat. If you aren't running a server with fans blowing straight over it, you'll want to add a small fan to the heatsink.

Very useful, reasonable build quality device.
I love these little boost converters, they're so useful, in a small package (I'm sure you can find smaller ones if you really need, but these aren't large by any means) and I love the very precise output voltage adjustment.
The microUSB port is incredibly useful, just be careful if you are using the through-hole pads for your power source, that you don't accidentally plug into that microUSB port as well. I haven't tested it this theory yet, but I can only imagine it's connected in parallel with the input through-hole pads so that if you plug a USB cable in, you're either supplying a higher voltage than you want, which could boost your output voltage and fry your device, and/or possibly sending that 5v directly to your power source, which could be bad if it's a battery or power supply that doesn't have protection against a reverse current.
Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more.
