Pressure sensing membrane is not made of metal

The pressure switch was purchased to replace one that went bad while in operation in the compressor. Due to its many plastic and rubber parts, I have concluded that it the compressor is permanently left with high-pressure air in its tank, the switch will not last (the pressure sensing membrane is made of a rubber-like material, as opposed by metal). hence from now one the tank is staying empty and the compressor is turned on only when air is needed.
