A definitive triumph
I first encountered the writings of George Simon in his steller examination of Glenn Miller. His broader book on the phenomenon of the big bands as a whole is no less readable and compelling. From Goodman's willingness to break the color barrier, to Kay Kyser's interaction with Ish Kabibble, it's all here. This book is a great read, and frankly, a lot of fun. It flows well, without being excessively superficial, and covers the subject in a level of detail that can only be called loving.

For my money, simply the best controller available
my title says most of it. This is, quite frankly, one of the three best controllers I've ever bought. Some will find the smaller-than-full-size keys a problem, but forba small portable controller, the keystep has it won, hands down.

Yes at a nearly perfect moment
Anybody who has been a Yes fan for more than fifteen minutes will agree that the variations of the group's lineup and mood have made, over the years, for a variance in performance that can only be charitably referred to as.....spotty. One concert will be outstanding, while another will seem either listless, or worse, exhibiting real signs of animus between the members. This dvd, made up of performaces recorded during their "90125" tour of 1984-5, happily falls into that former category. Reuniting for the album of the same name (well, number) after the dreadful "Drama" tour, the group struck absolute pop gold with "Owner of a Lonely Heart", which some prog adherents feel abandoned their stylistic roots, but which may well have rescued the group from the artistic scrap heap. Love "Owner" or hatebit, the dvd remains a well produced snapshot of a vibrant and enjoyable concert tour, and of a wonderfully successful moment in the history of the band.
