Thin Blue Line by James Treyman

    Too Black for the Blue
The content of this book was EXCELLENT. I wasn't expecting to find a tenth of what was contained within. This book is less than 200 hundreds pages so the author had little room for fluff or distracting information. From the beginning to the end it's just shock and awe. At times it seems like I was in the shoes of the author reliving this ordeal with him. I think parents that live in the low-income politically powerless areas of Rhode Island need to read this and have their children read it as well. The book provided the details of what really happened that just didn't add up in the news reports at the time. Several grammatical errors and typos in my copy of the book but it was not nearly as bad as the errors in text messages I receive from younger adults. Good book. Sets the record straight.
3 Movies in 1 - The MARK - REVELATION ROAD - JERUSALEM COUNTDOWN - APOCALYPTIC

Well, At Least They Got The Gospel Message Across
Jerusalem Countdown: First and foremost, the movie gets an A+ for not beating around the bush regarding salvation through Jesus Christ alone. Regarding the rest of the film, however, it comes across like a movie put together by high school film students... advanced high school film students. Too many dialogue cutaways felt dead and motionless. Seems also like the director took his first take of a lot of these scenes. Some of them looked stale and forced. Several of the male actors were not believable when trying to act like hard arses. Trying too hard. The editor may have been trying to rush this out of the studio as soon as possible. Car scenes looked too fake in Jerusalem Countdown. Jaci Velasquez is just in the film for eye candy or to boost it with some of her star power. Her character and the man playing the husband of her character were completely useless to the plot. Their scenes are just so awkward and wooden yet even Giapetto couldn't breathe life into them. Jaci may also not be too concerned about getting intimate with more than one man under the sun, but I'm gonna call her kissing of her costar adultery. Jesus got you covered, girl, but I can just imagine the confusion young Christian females will have reconciling your deed with their Christian walk. Anyhow... The action scenes were not believable. Handguns with infinite bullets. Silencers that can shoot through heavy-duty pad locks. Men who get shot or blown up and end up on their backs spread eagle with no pooling of blood. I think the only saving grace (excuse the pun) is Anna Zielinski. Fair to look upon and cunning in acting ability. She was the only reason I made it to the end. And about the end... I think the producers are still working on getting one for this film. REVELATION ROAD: What in the world did I just watch? Was this movie supposed to be a metaphor for the angelic conflict? Angels and demons at war? I just did not get it. One character stood out only because of her beauty. Googled her and come to find out that she is the wife of the main actor and formerly worked for Hugh Hefner. The Bible says to "redeem the time." Something I certainly did not do while watching this film. THE MARK: A very scattered story. Too many primary heroes and villains. I do give them credit for not being ashamed to mention the "bible," and "the lord," and an hour into the film "Jesus Christ." The hand-to-hand combat scenes were slow (or poorly edited). The East Asian guy just happens to be a martial arts expert apparently. The main female character was supernaturally pretty, yet her acting was childish (might have to blame the director for this though?) Maybe she isn't cut out for scenes of high emotion. This movie was sloppy. Was it about the Rapture? Was it about the chip? Was it about the beast and the global government. Was it about stopping a plane from crashing? OK, let me stop. I give PureFlix credit. They seem to be doing what the Golam/Globus team did back in the 80's--just churn out movie after movie after movie thus building a sizeable film portfolio in a short time. The portfolio then becomes an asset you can sell and retire off of. These three movies were junk.

    Eternal Life Without Christ
A big plus for having this movie in the common tongue of the intended audience: English speakers. The world has had a refined and purified English version of the Bible for a good 150 years so I never understand the need to have the story of Jesus Christ remain in dead languages with pagan definitions. The Passion of the Christ comes to mind. The production value was good and I didn't detect any troubling doctrinal errors much. Would have been nice though if the crosses looked more like a lower-case "t" instead of a capital one. They did good not rehashing the entirety of the crucifixion. I had assumed that the movie would be about the main character's search for Christ which would end in him finding a resurrected Jesus, however, he finds Jesus midway through the movie. At this point, the settings and the persona of the main character changes which makes it feel like two loosely-connected movies in one. The second half of the movie was mellow without Rome in the picture (with Christ on the scene, I guess you can't expect chaotic drama in your life). Finally, the biggest issue I had with the movie... it portrayed the gospel without "Jesus Christ". Why have the whole movie in English yet when it comes to the only name by which men are saved, it was obfuscated by the Hebrew pronunciation? No other name in the film was rendered in this manner. The only mention of Jesus you will find is in the special features. Seems like they tried real hard to keep that name hidden. "Mission complete." -Pharisee
