Lovable

This film and The Emerald Forest appeared at about the same time. This film, these people, are so engagingly sincere, they make the other film look voyeuristic and exploitative. Some scenes! Someone points a pistol at someone, and he accepts it as a gift, taking it gently from his hand, looks at it, and hands it back with a smile.

Lovable

In awesome shape, and cheap because of one little chip on the glass top, which makes it even more like a long-time denizen of my kitchen. I dropped my old one, which was identical, but, I now realize, was much more tired than this one. Welcome, little guy, and get ready for a life of hard use.

Classic, funny, romantic

This is a light, romantic comedy. The missteps, misunderstandings, and resolutions are funny, and cute. It is also wonderfully racially fulfilling. Can you believe a senile horny old white guy named Mr. Lynch? In my mind it is a classic, and I like it as I like Shakespeare's light comedies.
