Fantastic for any writer
My sister made fun of me when I told her that I was buying myself a hard copy thesaurus. But this thing is the best, especially for a writer, and she has begrudgingly admitted that this is a Good Thing. Every word is broken down into all its separate meanings, and there are even synonyms for common expressions. Sprinkled throughout, there are helpful word usage tips from famous writers like Zadie Smith and David Foster Wallace about common confusions like the difference between "lay" and "lie" as well as breakdowns for how some seeming synonyms differ slightly in meaning. Words "soup" not only provide synonyms, but come with separate boxes that list all kind of sub-categories of that item. I do still use the online thesaurus when I'm not at my desk, but I much prefer when I've got my special buddy by my side. : D
